The Best Age-Appropriate Homemaking Chores for Girls

Over the years I have spent a lot of mental energy deciding what is a realistic request, what chores are age-appropriate, and what chores will be met with frustration and panic. My little guinea pigs have taught me what works and what doesn’t. Time tested, I have found what chores seem to click well at certain ages and I’ve compiled a list based on my own experiences; but the list is also inspired by Why our kids should do age-appropriate chores by Heather at the blog Sports Mom Survival Guide
Not all of these chores are things I would ask my kids to do on a daily basis. I believe all kids should become confident in basic tasks before moving on to something more advanced. I’m still very much working on daily routines with my daughters, and we have not nailed anything just yet. Some of the other chores like dust, unload groceries, are all things done intermittently. Start small and be gentle with your kids as you introduce them to new chores.
2-3 Years
